Who is Pascoe Sawyers?

Pascoe Sawyers is best known as the originator of the MeFOCUS personal leadership
principle. MeFOCUS is outlined in his ground-breaking personal development book
MePLC: Your Life Is Your Business in which he identifies being Fearless, Optimistic,
Creative, Unique and a Storyteller as the five key traits to of individuals who are effective
‘leaders of self’.

He is an experienced trainer and facilitator who specialises in various aspectsof public
sector leadership, motivation and team building. Recent clients have included staff
groups at Newham PCT and Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals, the Tenant Services
Authority, the Royal Institute of Charter Surveyors and EDF Energy.

Pascoe has worked in the British local government sector since the late 1980s, and is
currently Political Leadership Programme Manager at Local Government Improvement &
Development (formerly the IDeA) where he is responsible for running the organisation’s
flagship Leadership Academy training programme for senior councillors in England and Wales.

Before moving into the leadership development field, in 2004, he headed up communications teams at the London boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Brent, and his achievements in local government include leading on a number of high profile PR projects such as the multi-award winning ‘Not Another Drop’ anti-gun crime campaign.

In 2006 he launched the UK’s first-ever radio programme for and about the work of councils and councillors. The highly successful 12-programme series, Frontline, was produced and presented by Pascoe and broadcast on the Colourful Radio Network.

He is well known in local government circles and widely recognised as one of the sector’s most competent trainers and public speakers on subjects ranging from media skills to personal resilience and community leadership.

Pascoe is also an accomplished writer and journalist. He published and edited The Alarm – a black current affairs and arts journal, in the mid 1990s, and has worked as a freelance journalist for various mainstream publications including The Guardian, Observer,
London Evening Standard and The Big Issue.

Pascoe lives in London with his wife and three children.
